Use a Rem Express 870 Cant barrel. Mounted a Millet DMS 1-4.5X 24mm scope with attached laser max uni green near of scope barrel. Rings-Millet 30mm Grabber type. Shooting platform-Caldwell Lead Sled Plus w/two 25 lb weights. Front of weapon not strapped down but held firmly from bottom front stock. Stock-Blackhawk Tactical Recoil Reduction type. Slug ammo-use Lightfield 3" Hybred Elite and occasionally Fed-Barnes HP 2 3/4. Recently shooting at target with Lightfield loads. Nice 3" inch group at 50 yds 2" high per Lightfield instruction. Green laser was on, Millet red light on and scope on 4.5 when on fourth shot the Millet disenegrated into 7 pieces flying into right eye and right hand. This was needless to say a first for me. Gathered pieces and sent to Bushnell (maker of Millet). They have emailed me the scope is beyond repair (duh) and are sending another. My querie is what happened? Anyone ever experienced a scope cracking into pieces from recoil. Does anyone else shoot Lightfields/Millet and experience this? Going on Florida Hog Hunt post Xmas with the above but maybe I need a new scope instead of the Millet? Thanks

 WOW!
Glad you're okay, and I'll bet Millett/Bushnell is too! (I am assuming you weren't hurt, because you didn't mention injury.)
I doubt that straight recoil alone caused it to do that. I'm thinking there probably were other factors, such as the cantilever base flexing under recoil, tweaking the tube too much for the lenses to handle or (?).
 Who knows?
Nice of them to send you a new scope, but I think that I'd take a backup scope on a distant hunt....

heard allot of horror stories about that particular scope ... Slug guns are tough on scopes , and if it were me , I'd opt for alternative optics
