Burnt up about 20-rounds of 30/30 ammo today. Trying to get this Nikon BDC dialed in with my 30/30.  My 30/30 was going to be the proving gound to help decide on whether or not to buy a Marlin .308XLR.....Well, I have decided against it......

I shot several groups trying to get some level of consistency with those LE bullets, but it didn't happen.....1 out of 3 maybe, but when they were off, they were off bad.

To assure myself it was the bullets, I shot several groups of Core Lokts and had awesome results out to 200 yds with those.  Actually,  one group was from a whole other lot number and probably 2 years older than the first groups and they were dead on with the other groups....I was astounded, and sick as well.  I have never shot Hornadys, but have always heard good things, but I had awful luck with them.  Just to prove my shooting again, I put 2 rounds (Federal Premium NBT) in my .270 and hit bullseye with both at 205 yds.......

Has anybody else had these results????  I am really upset about the Hornady's.

Looks Like I will be moving the Nikon to my .270....Next year.....I'm not messing with that setup after those 2 shots and the previous 4 rounds sighting it in.  She's ready to roll something next Sat.

Some particular guns simply don't like some types of ammo, bullet types, bullet weights, etc.
Don't be too upset with Hornady. Your one experience really has nothing to do with the overall quality of Hornady ammo, which I have found to be very good in my limited use of it.
The next experiment in a different gun with the same box of ammo might yield spectacular results. You never know until you try.
Glad you got all dialed in, I'm going to the range this afternoon to check zeroes for next Saturday's Wisconsin general deer opener.
Good luck hunting and thanks for sharing your experience!

I've tried the Hornady LeverEvolutions( as recent as this past Wednesday) in both the Marlin 336SS on the far right and the Winchester 94 on the left .. Couldn't be happier with the results . I previously used Winchester 150 PP + in both with good results ( 1.5-2 inches at 100 yds consistently) , but the Hornady loads are  a little better than that , with the 336 capable of 1 inch at 100 yd.s if I do my part. On the 45/70 XLR ( 2nd from the left ), I've since had the barrel cut down to 20 inches and a Weaver Extreme 1.5-4.5 installed ( nice scope) .. With Buffalo Bore 350 gr ammo , accuracy is great considering the load ( 2100 fps) at right around and inch and a half at 100 yd.s .

ive pretty much used sierras  as long as ive been reloading, and i just started to use hornady bullets last year. i figured i would try them in my .375H&H and since they were the cheapest to buy i went ahead and bought a box. they were excellent, and performed very well on the deer i shot last fall. now i still want to try other bullets the .250gr sierra is on my list, and ive never had any issues with sierra bullets from pdogs to elk death was swift and one shot.

I have had excellent results with the Hornady LE in my grandson's 336 in 30-30. I am going to get some for my .32 Model 94 as well. You can now buy the flex-tip bullets for reloading, but cannot buy the Hornady proprietary powder yet that goes into making the LeverEvolution factory rounds so hot. If you want an eye-opener, fire some regular factory flat-noses, then some LE rounds on the same target through that 30-30.

My 40 year old marlin 336 30/30 does not like the hornady LE bullets no way no how at 50 yards they are all over the paper. Now standard rn bullets group at about 1" at 100. I think I read back when they came out that they were developed for the newer Marlin rifles.
