Hello, I am looking for a scope for my Smith & Wesson M&P 15T during my 7 day waiting period.  I used to be in the military and didn't need a scope, so this is where you come in.  I do not have much experience with rifle/tactical scopes so I need your advice.

Here is what I am looking for...

Looking to spend $600 max., BUT, if for alittle more money and is worth it, I am open to spend more.  My range would be between 100 - 350 yards...I am going to use it for target, NO hunting.  I've read about the SWFA SS 3-9x42 which has received some great reviews, but wasn't sure if this would be over kill, and also is a "longer than tactical" scope.  I've also looked at the ELCAN which might be more the style I'm looking for.

Please let me know what you think, tell me what other items I will need to mount the scope.  The S&W is already set with the Weaver rail (correct?)

I would LOVE to have something had night vision, I know that there would be more $, but curious...any suggestion on this?
