Hello all new here,
I have a T16 weaver that I have actually won a couple of local club 22 plinker shoots with,
during the colder months (on a 540x).
I was getting ready for another shoot and the  same rifle will shoot at one elevation, then next shot 1/4 inch or a bit more vertical high, then the next shot back into the lower hole back and forth holding one ragged hole in both locations.
I have not moved to another rifle yet, but has this scope developed a problem in warmer weather, has it been damaged (while in a plastic hard case???)
any ideas appreciated. what a great site.

I doubt that is a scope problem. Generally speaking, if it were it would be wandering all over the place. It may perhaps be a feeding problem, or could be an ammo related problem. Not really a big deal due to the fact that there is some consistency with the bullets hitting in two different places only. And hitting in the same two holes. I would tend to think that there are two different types of ammo being used. You may have done this with out realizing that you did.
Edit to add, WELCOME to the OT

Have you checked that the mounting bases are still tight?

hey guys thanks for the thoughts,
I am a long time shooter and have checked
all of the basics, but was just wondering if any similar
loss of zero has happened on any weaver scopes
all others are leopold and they seem to never give me a problem
keep the thoughts coming

I have never heard of a scope going back and forth between two zeroes like that. I'm not saying impossible. It could be if everything else is right. What type of reticle is it?
Also, is it exactly every other round that is going north? Or is there some variance there?

yes sir a verticle series of two raggy holes, I shoot with a vetrain benchrest shooter and he also had never seen this, my next step is to switch rifles and also mount a different scope on the ole 540x---- we even cleaned the bore ( I know) then shot to wear in lub to check out rifling to see if any specs in barrel, none so the investigation continues, I will let you know what I find when I do, thanks again to all
