I have a Savage 30R17 take down that I would like to scope. I use it for squirrel in dark heavy wooded areas. Price doesn't matter, any suggestions?

if price doesnt matter, and your using it at clost range (within 100 yards i assume) you dont need any more than 3-9, and i think a bushnell 4200 2.5-10, or zeiss conquest 3-9x40 would fit your needs perfectly.

Thanks Cory, I'll look into those scopes. Any advice on how to remove the rear sight? It is the typical transversely metal blade with the slider. I got the slider out but can't figure out how to get the blade it self off. It doesn't have any screws or pins. A weaver base came with the rifle from savage, the instructions for removing the sight say to approch the sight from the left and remove it from the right hand side of the barrel? Is their a special tool?

Thanks
Bill

The Leupold Compact 3-9x33 EFR also works well for squirrels.

Not familiar with that gun so I can not help you with the sights.
