The Leupold VX-III scopes
In 2004, Leupold introduces the VX-III line of Golden Ring Riflescopes. The VX-III carries many of the great classic features of the tried and true Vari-X III line but with several exciting new features. Based on the superior optical design of the Vari-X III, the VX-III delivers even more light transmission with The New Index Matched Lens System. No longer are tools required for making windage and elevation adjustments as we introduce the new, highly precise Finger Adjustable Elevation and Windage. Reticle focus will be faster and easier now with The Lockable Fast Focus Eyepiece. More Long Range models are now available. The VX-III 1.5-5x20mm and 1.75-6x32mm are top choices in dangerous game and quick pointing optics with wide field of view and now an even brighter image for dark, shadowed woods. The VX-III 2.5-8x36mm, 3.5-10x40mm and the 4.5-14x40mm fixed objective all meet the needs of the serious hunter who needs an excellent combination of low power, wide field of view and higher magnification for longer range shots, all in a package that fits well in a scabbard. The VX-III 3.5-10x50mm fixed objective provides the best low light performance while the VX-III 4.5-14x50mm Long Range gives both great low light performance for deep timber and is equipped for long range shooting of open country with side focus and generous adjustment travel. The VX-III 4.5-14x40mm Long Range, 6.5-20x50mm Long Range (also available in a Target model) and the 8.5-25x50mm Long Range Target meet the needs of shooters that demand maximum capabilities for placing shots accurately in a wide range of conditions. In addition to the full array of Leupold reticles, the VX-III riflescope family now also features the new Leupold Wide Duplex reticle (available in Spring 2004) in addition to the New Ballistic Reticle System: The Boone and Crockett Club Reticle for big game and the Varmint Hunters™ Reticle. The Leupold Index Matched Lens System provides the best light management across the entire image, maximizing contrast and image brightness, delivering as high as 98% light transmission. New Finger Adjustable Windage and Elevation Dials make sighting in easy and zero can be reset by moving the golden pointer ring. Except for the diopter directional markings, The Lockable Fast Focus Eyepiece still carries the Leupold Classic look but focuses 4 times faster than did the Vari-X III, then can be locked in place when best focus is achieved. The Long Range configuration of Side Focus for parallax correction and 30mm maintube for added elevation adjustment travel has been carried through to all models of 4.5-14 power range and higher to provide easy to operate parallax correction and expanded capability to achieve longer range shots. Leupold's™ new VX-III riflescopes are manufactured at the Leupold Beaverton, Oregon factory and are backed by the Leupold Full Lifetime Guarantee.

The Leupold VX-II scopes
Leupold has enhanced the VX-II product line in 2004. These fixed and adjustable objective riflescopes, including 2 shotgun models, provide a wide range of models built to meet the demands of the serious hunter and shooter. These new VX-II riflescopes offer superior value in optical and mechanical quality and performance. The newly enhanced VX-II riflescopes feature a new lockable fast focus eyepiece which allows the shooter to quickly and easily focus the reticle with minimal effort. Now with the Multicoat 4 Lens System, the VX-II riflescopes deliver excellent light transmission, clarity, and contrast from edge to edge of the visual field. A new tactile power indicator makes it easy to tell with a touch what power the scope is set on, in addition to making it easier to turn the power selector with gloves on. The VX-II riflescopes also feature Ľ MOA click windage and elevation adjustments, Leupold's™ famous long eye relief, a wide field of view, and an assortment of finish options and reticle styles including Leupold's™ new Wide Duplex® reticle. The new VX-II riflescopes offer the same repeatable accuracy, reliability, ruggedness and waterproof integrity for which all Leupold Golden Ring products have always been known for. Leupold's™ new VX-II riflescopes are manufactured at Leupold's™ Beaverton, Oregon factory and are backed by the Leupold Full Lifetime Guarantee.

The Leupold VX-I scopes
In 2004, Leupold expanded the VX-I riflescope product family. The VX-I riflescope product family now includes matte finish scope models in addition to the current gloss finish models. Still the best scope in its class, offering quality, accuracy and affordability, the VX-I is designed for the first-time buyer as well as the seasoned hunter or shooter who desires a less expensive but high-quality scope. The VX-I 2-7x33mm is an excellent combination of higher magnification and a wide field of view. The VX-I 3-9x40mm is the ideal all around hunting scope, and if you need more power for those long range shots look to the VX-I 4-12x40mm. In addition to the Leupold standard Duplex® reticle, the VX-I riflescope family now also features the new Leupold Wide Duplex reticle. This new reticle design helps the shooter get on target quickly and easily in many common shooting situations. The Leupold Standard Multicoat Lens System provides enhanced resolution, contrast, and solid light management across the entire image. The VX-I riflescopes also have the famous Leupold long and forgiving eye relief, Ľ MOA Micro-Friction™ windage and elevation adjustments, for finer adjustment of bullet point of impact, and the same repeatable accuracy, waterproofing, and ruggedness for which all Leupold Golden Ring products have always been known for. Leupold's™ new VX-I riflescopes are manufactured at the Leupold Beaverton, Oregon factory and are backed by the Leupold Full Lifetime Guarantee.

What is the difference between the VX-II and Vari-X III
The VX-II has the same tactile, audible, click-style adjustments as the Vari-X III, but there are a couple of differences. The Vari-X III is a one piece maintube, the VX-II is 3 piece construction. The Vari-X III has Multicoat 4 on all lenses, while the VX-II has Multicoat 4 on the external lenses and magnesium fluoride on the internal lenses. The difference in lens coatings results in the Vari-X III having approximately 92% total light transmission, the VX-II having approximately 86%.

Differences between the Vari-XII and the VX-I and the VX-II
The Vari-X II line was retired at the end of 2001. Leupold replaced this line of products with two different lines, the VX-I and the VX-II. The VX-I has a Silent Friction adjustment in 1/4" inch hash marks on the adjustment dial. All the internal lenses have a single coating of magnesium floride. The eyepiece and objective external lenses have a standard multicoat lens coating, providing approximately 86% of the available light back to the shooters eye. It is offered in Gloss finish or Matte finish, Duplex Reticle or Wide Duplex and in 2-7x, 3-9x and 4-12x. They have the Leupold Lifetime Warranty. The VX-II line of scopes provide 1/4 MOA audible click adjustments and Multicoat 4 lens coating on all the lens surfaces which provide 92% of the available light back to the shooters eye.
