I've heard of Gerhardt , and I've seen Hertel and Reuss. These are some of the old, smaller German scope companies. These companies typically sold only in small European markets, and usually had a small following of very loyal customers. Quality is usually very good and you can find excellent deals on scopes such as this as the younger generation, who've never heard of them, discounts them as being "junk" because theres not much info on them. Here's a small list of other small German companies (most of which are now out of business).
Wetzlar
Krombach
Krombach/Wetzlar
Zeiss/Wetzlar
Hensoldt/Wetzlar
Hensoldt
Pecar-Berlin
Nickel
Gerhardt-Nickel
Hertal und Reuss - these names are now known as the Gerhardt-Nickel above
Lisenfeldt
Seeadler-Optik
Luger-Optik
Manon
Karl Kaps
Bear in mind that some of these companies were German companies that outsourced the components, made to their specs, and assembled them at their shops in Germany/Austria.
This is just a small list of those companies that I remember off the top of my head this morning. As I remember more, I'll edit this post. I am sure someone else can add to this list.
I know this doesn't give you specific info on the company you named, but I hope it helps. What kind of scope have you found? If you can get a good deal on it, it is well worth having. ( As is any of these older companies)

Beware, though. In the 1970s and 1980s those small companies began outsourcing their production and started labelling their name on Japan, Korea, and China made optics. You may get a nice optic, but don't assume that is is German made, and check to see whether something similar or identical could be found under a Bushnell or Nikon label, for less cash.

I have seen photos of several of the scope brands mentioned above by Huntmaster that looked absolutely like Japanese or Asian products. I know that some of the companies assemble things in Germany which are manufactured in Asia [ like Luger ]. It doesn't make them BAD, it just isn't really what we have come to expect when one speaks of a European Scope. But you just need to make sure that you aren't over-paying for them.

This is true. I am making the assumption you want to try something different, and also are looking at possible collector value.
At 495 AUD , that is not bad - the Australian dollar is trading around $ .64 1/2 this morning.
