Well, I gave in and bought a scope that cost more than my rifle... have not shot it yet but so far it looks very clear.
And it is nice and light too boot. ;)

Congrats rustic!

It may take a while to get used to not crawling the stock when you turn the magnification up.  That is a very nice scope.  Don't drop it off a 5.10 approach. Wink

That is what my 16" 5lb 6.5/284 has worn for over 7 years now. You will not be dissapointed in it. I fell on mine in the Laramie mountian range in Wyoming this past fall while walking on a steep ridge in the snow and it still never missed a beat. In my opinion this is one of the absolute best scopes for a setup when weight is a high priority. It doesn't get much better than 3/4 of a lb and Swaro glass to boot! Excellent

P.S. What mounts are you going to use? I use Talley Lightweights.

The Talleys come with high recomendations from myself! Nice solid and sturdy mount yet still extremely light.

I use Talley's on my 45-70 and my light weight 300 WSM.  They are very strong, good mounts IMO.

i use talley LW on my 7mag, nothing bad to say about them... for the money, they may be the best ring/mount combo out there.

Great scope, had one for a while then I decided I wanted some illumination,so I traded it towards a Z6I to SWFA. I don't think you can find a better scope [bang for the buck] good luck with her Excellent

Great scope, although I think you would be doing yourself a huge diservice by not taking it up in the mountains.  That scope deserves more than just flatland and speed goats.

I am not going to even giving myself a chance of scratching it. I have a scope coat but, it doesn't fit all that great... any other suggestions??

Scopeshield!!!!  I have several.  Covers the entire scope.  No weather on it.  Never had it fog like regular caps.  Fits snug.  Comes off faster than opening two caps.  And has a loop to go around the stock so you never loose it when flipping it off.  I think I have four of them so far in different sizes.

For years the only scope covers my dad has used are cut intertubes. They are cheap--go to a tire shop and ask them for a takeoff, and as long as you cut them thick enough, they will cover most of the scope. Pretty good cheap solution. Nice scopes are kind of like nice rifles. Meant to be used. Use it, take care of it, and you'll be able to tell the great stories about the nick in the stock and the scratch on the scope tube as you look at your trophy on the wall.

Another plug for the Talley LWs.  I use Bushwacker scope covers.  They add about two ounces to the rifle, but they flip up easy and keep things protected.

Never had a Z3 before this year, but have to say, for a lightweight scope, you are hard pressed to find that level of quality and price for Euro glass.  I would say my Kahles CL 2-7 comes close at about 2 ounces heavier.    Just wish they could put a ballistic turret on the Z3...

I use to worry all the time about my accupoint, but after droping it 5-6 times, etc .....it keeps on going on and now all I worry about is when I'll have enough saved to get the Z3
