I'm trying to find the FoV for my old Redfield Widefield Illuminator 3-9x40 so I can compare it to a Zeiss Conquest or a Kahles CL but I can't find the specs for it anywhere online. I think it's rather generous but I'd like to know what it is exactly if someone has that info. Thanks.

I am a big big (insane, lunatic) fan of the widefields I believe you might be able to get the data from ABO out of I think Florida... I have given them a few scopes and for less than $50 shipped they will turn the scope around cleaned and tuned it is a fantastic service... |

I notice that Leupold has started the propaganda machine rolling for the rollout of the Redfield product introduction, to support what Leupold-wrote in August 2009 that: "we just bought Redfield name plus technology and will never make Redfield scopes again"! Drum Roll and cut to today on www.redfield.com (a once moribund site until this week) to announce that: "We (Leupold) have have 500 Redfield (or Leupold, depending on the day of the week) employees with countless years of experience dedicated to making the Redfield product line". Note the hack Gunwriters lined up to express the wonders, attributes and goodness of the "new/old" Redfield product line "of affordable, made in America, scopes for the american sportsman". Note the big red "R" embossed on the ocular bell of what looks to be another Leupold scope with embossed three line eyepiece (like the original Redfield) to inform any idiot who doesn't know, what a real Redfield once looked like. I am sorry but this is a reeking heap of marketing hype that smells badly and is founded on a misrepresentation and lie! Leupold, you have lost your moral compass!
I still own/have owned many Redfield scopes over the years and have a soft place in my heart for them. They were, when I first bought one, a better scope than Leupold was at the time. Redfield fell on hard times, failed and was finally sold to Leupold with the promise that the brand would never be made again. Leupold bought the Goodwill of Redfield, along with the name and whatever assets.
Now Leupold refuses to honor Redfield's Lifetime warrantee, despite having one on their own products. This was part of the "Goodwill" obligation that most companies inherit when they buy a defunct company. This is why Leupold lied and said that they would never make Redfield again. It was so the could stiff Redfield owner's out of any warrantee promise. Be careful which Redfield scope that you buy, if you buy one on E-Bay, you may get a scope with no warrantee. ATK as an counter example, has agreed to honor the warrantee for all Weaver scopes still under warrantee. ATK is a more honorable company that is honestly serving their customers. Leupold is not such a company.
I also owned a number of Leupold scopes and binoculars which I have been selling off. I have sold half of the Leupold products that I owned (2 scopes plus binoculars) which leaves me with (2) Vari XII and (1) Vari XIII scope. These are presently mounted on rifles and may also be sold soon. In any event, I will not be buying any more Leupold (or Redfield ) products. I will keep my Redfield 3-9x42 Illuminator scope and will never sell it. It is the last vestige of a company that was once proud and made a great 100% American product, which is more than Leupold can say.
