received my aimpoint from swfa today, it was the package deal. it came with a low mount, i get my cheekweld and the dot is at the top of sight. will standard or high put the dot in center. i need a quick detach mount, so i can swap it out with my kahles scope from time to time, for the price of QD mounts i don't want to get this wrong.

I am considering the same sight for my AR but want to know exactly what it will cost before I commit, so what base did you use or did the low mount that came with it work?

I just purchased the same scope off the Sample List yesterday. Based on my research, there are really only 3 good options for mounts, Larue Tactical, American Defense, and Bobro. Larue is highly adjustable and will carry a spare battery, however the QD latch will leave marks on your rail. The AD QD hits a larger area and won't mark up your rail as much. Bobro appears to have the greatest contact with the rail and is like a bench vise (it is also the most expensive of the bunch). Personally, I'm most likely going for the AD cantilever with a lower 1/3 co-witness. That will give me the most flexibility in the future in the unlikely event that I add a magnifier or something else to the rail. |
