Has anyone had a scope and/or rifle coated or painted. For example taking a synthetic stock and having it teflon or armor type coated to a camo type finish. If so can you recomend a company or just provide your experience. Thank you. |

Here is another example of the work Lauer does. Finish is tough as nails and can be applied to just about any surface.

Doors, you can do this yourself if your so inclined. Scope included. Go to "Varmint Al's" website. This site should still have the section on camo for your rifle. To paint the scope, I've used a wide packing tape or stiff duck tape to cover the lens with a 1/4 overhang without the covering getting in the way to paint the scope. Lay 2 short strips sticky side up on a flat surface and holding the scope vertically, press both ends down onto the tape thus protecting the ocular and objective lenses. Paint away. Let it dry and then spray on your clear coat of choice.

I've talked to a few guys in the military that just used some ole fashioned spray paint. They of course covered areas they didn't want painted. I guess you have to use what you have when the situation calls for it . |

You can try your own hand. I did the bolt below with Krylon and DuraCoat matte clear. I would recommend doing the color also in Dura Coat. I've done several rifles using various materials and pattern methods. It's FUN!
Even with spray-bombs, the added DuraCoat top-coat makes it real durable. All the bore cleaners still did'nt remove the finish from the muzzle. Aluma-Hide is also popular. Brasspile from AR-15.com does really nice work for customers.

I used Duracoat snow camo recently on my varmint rifles. Photos coming soon. I just put butler creeks over my Leupod, and sparyed over the whole works. I never take my caps off anyway, so no worries about the entire scope not being painted, and it's easy to touch up if I ever get the need to do so.
