case head rupture before full bolt lock up, high primer or the firing pin floated far enough to contact primer, (which means the case head would already be under the extractor) or an over load.

For sure on that with the way the bolt blew back. Too bad they didn't super slo-mo.

these type of blows, when they happen, are more common on mauser type semis, that have the charactistic 90 deg bolt rotation. as opposed to ar which are about 60 deg (lock up sooner). the only other thing that comes to mind, but don't have enough info. The gun is nfa select fire and the bolt timing lug tripped the sear release early and the hammer followed the bolt down.

the reason the guy wasn't hurt more was due to the low pressure nature of the 7.6x39 and , inherently 2x as strong action of the ak over the ar.

AKs may not win beauty contests, nor bench matches but they still are the best cheap effective battle rifle ever made. I'm buying a Bulgarian one (I'm told it's the best by the local SEALs) and 10 of those 1000 round tin can packs in anticipation of Osama Obama being the next Jimmie Carter. Remember Osama Obama has a policy statement that his goal is to ban the ownership and manufacture of all handguns in the USA. "Ask the Brits".
