Please post any recommendations for a mid priced scope for 17hmr. Will use this gun mainly for pinking and whatever. Likely to purchase a CZ. Looks like most folks put a centerfire type scope on these guns. I am concerned about paralax for 50 yard shooting. Is adjustable objective the same thing as adjustable paralax? Looked at the Bushnell 3200 and couple of Nikons. 300 or less price range makes the most sense to me for what I will use this for. Thank you. |

I just ordered the 2-7X32 Monarch for my Savage 93R17. SWFA has them for about $189.95...... that's a great deal IMO!

I have that same model and it is a fine scope. Easily in the 4200 neighborhood when it comes to the glass quality. At $189.95 it is a steal. http://riflescopes.com/pc-1910-218-nikon-2-7x32-monarch-ucc-riflescope.aspx
I have some big game scopes that are 100 yard parallax adjusted on a few .22's. I have never had a problem with small game and vermin control. For plinking you would be doing real good with Tip's suggestion. Edited by tahqua - February/11/2008 at 18:04 |

Depends on your eyes, personally myself I have a Mueller 4.5x14x40 APV on one and a Nikon Buckmaster 6x18x40 BDC SF on the other. I have found that the extra power is great to have if you want to use it.

Thank you for the advice. Might want a little more power than 7x. will look at some of the Nikons.

By the way are you happy with the Savage 17? I am trying to decide between it the CZ and the Ruger 77.

If you dont mind the weight this is a good scope for the money and you can move it around to different rifles if you use the CZ picatinney rail to mount it
The rail does have the recoil lug but it will raise the scope 10 mm. so you can use low rings with it , I have used this set up on a CZ 550 in the 22-250 cal. and I like to move scopes around at the range & the rail makes quick change easy and quick.
