On a scope with target adjustments does it matter what power the scope is set on for the 1/4 inch click? Say the rifle needs 136 clicks to get to 1000 yards would it matter if it was on 20 power or 6 power? Thanks

Nope.

No, it doesn't matter.
The turrets operate independently of the magnification adjustment in a variable power scope. If you were looking through the scope as you made the adjustments, the reticle would appear to move the same distance across the target face in relation to the target size, with each click, whether on 6 or 20 power.
Edited to add: Sorry to parrot you, Rancid. I would have sworn there were no replies yet when I posted. Edited by RONK - February/07/2008 at 21:06 |

ya, what are you shootin there.
the topic falls in to the impact changes at different mag with SFP scopes. at 1000 yds. it should be noted that if you sighted in at 20 power at 100 yds, then use a drop chart for your load or 34 moa to "reset" the reticle for 20 power at that range, however if you demagnify back to 6 x you will shoot high.
it is interesting that you have slightly reworded this same topic to make the elevation adjustment the variable instead of the magnification change on SFP, elevation vs. poi instead of mag vs. poi. (at same zero)
anyway stick around and share your language skills.
