Except the T3 has a 2-lug bolt, and this A7 has 3 lugs like the 75 & 85.

No doubt the Beretta marketing machine is looking to close out the Tikka brand, and make it a "lower end" Sako.

Fishinado,

No offense, but I hope you are wrong about that.  I guess the Beretta marketing gurus beleive if they add the name "Sako" to it, that will allow them to price it for more!  Whacko  Big%20Grin

I hope I am, but I doubt it!  The A7 looks a lot like the T3.  What else could they be up to?

The current Tikka is basically the old Sako design, with two locking lugs.  Now that the Sako 85 is out, the previous 75 designed can be "cheapend" a bit (two piece bolt), now with three locking lugs.  Viola!  New old gun!!Break%20Dance

The current Tikka is nothing like the old 2-lug Sako, which had a full length guide rib/bolt race baffle and an entirely different trigger assy and safety design than the Tikka.  The Tikka action is no more similar to the old Sako than it is the Howa 1500.  Sako and Tikka is made in the same manufacturing plant and their barrels are made on the same hammer forging machines.  They both use the same extractor and similar triggers.  Other than those things, they are not similar.

The 75 bolt also has 3 lugs just like the 85.  The only difference between the 75 and 85 bolts is the 85 has part of the bolt face enclosure removed for the controlled round feed feature, a differently shaped bolt shroud, and additional guiding surfaces on the side of the lugs.

I don't think this rifle is intended to replace the Tikka T3 at all.  The Tikka is still Sako's "bargain" rifle.  It's a good rifle, but it doesn't directly compete with Sako.

I agree with Ted regarding his specs. on the rifles and his conclusions.  Other than the barrels, which by the way are made in the same location and sent to the Sako area of manufacturing and  the Tikka area and are supposed to be the same, but from there on, Sako has let the former Tikka company that it acquired really make most of the decisions regarding the manufacturing of their rifles.  Which is good, as they are different, less expensive and approach the Sako in quality of construction.  I really do not think Sako and Beretta their parent company is going to do away with Tikka.  Tikka competes directly with alot of rifles in that price range and brings alot to the table, except for a deluxe in a 204 ruger, I want one.

To Tip69:  I bet you could get a Sako in 6.5X55 if you got on Sako's European website. There is no way that the Finns don't chamber that cartridge. You may have to order one from overseas from the USA folks. ( sigh) The Europeans even get to have IRON SIGHTS on THEIR rifles!! Makes me want to immigrate.............( I need a new soapbox---I already squashed down this one from jumping up and down on it, and I've only been doing this forum for a month!)Soap%20Box      --Ranting Ed         Furious

Looks good except for the Tikka style magazine.  (I keep hoping Sako will offer a hinged floorplate on the 85).  And with the round receiver (compared to the 75/85 dovetail) I wonder if it keeps the integral recoil lug?
