Hey fellas,

Ordered a Savage Predator in .223. yay!

So now I'm thinking of a  Burris 3-9x40 Fullfield TAC 30 Tactical 30mm. I now the optics are nice and I'm liking the ballistic plex.

Questions to those that have them OR are knowledgeable about them please. I don't want to make a mistake.

1. I shoot a .223 55gr @ approx 3240 fps. I want the ballistic plex aligned for that round. I do know that they have that exact plex, however on the tac scopes does anyone know if they use the 52 gr @ whatever fps?  If they do I dont want this scope. The recticle will be useless.

2. Is Burruis's 30mm tubes bright and crisp? My shots consist of ranges out to 400 yards. Nothing more.

Respectfully,

Fatty

I see you...

I'm bumping this as I have ruffly the same question, except I'm looking at using 55gr out of an 1/8 twist bbl on my RRA AR.

Take a look at this page from Burris.

It uses the 55 gr bullet for the standard trajectory.

You can look at the technically stated area and figure out the drop for the 52 gr.  Sight in for 100 yards.  Compare the drops listed to your drop for the 52 gr.  The range where your bullet drops the same as what is listed for the reticel is the range where it will hit for that particular crosshair.  Hope that makes sense.

If you take a look at the Burris XTR scopes, they are coming out with a reticle specifically for the 223.  Better glass, plus the XTR will have a rain coating like the 4200s.  Not sure what your price range is, but you should take a look at the XTRs.

the 3-9x40 and 3.5-10x50 is 50 inches, the 4.5-14x42 is 40 inches for the TAC30s.

The XTRs are 130 in for 1-4x, 90 for 10x and 3-12x, and 79 in for 6-24x
