Hi fellows I would like to have the from the experts an opinion about what rifle scope I should choose for my spring air rifle( CFX by Gamo). I have already read lots of posts with the similar issue and I could figure out that Leopold , Bushnell can be mounted over spring air rifles without problems. But here in the brazilian market, these brands are very expensive ( the big ones over US$ 900,00) and I can’t afford it. Another question; Somebody would have information about the rifle scope 3x16x56 by gamo? What rifle scope you recommend for my CFX by Gamo ?? Thanks for the attention Fábio Honorato |

What you are using your .177 for and do you have a reason for wanting such a large scope on that gun?
Also, can you give us an idea of what brands are around your area and what price range? If you are hunting and eliminating pests you can gain a lot of reliability and low cost with a fixed 4x. This is plenty for head shots at forty meters on most small animals. It also is very easy to pick up animals at short range. Edited by tahqua - January/11/2008 at 11:08 |

I can tell you that the smaller objectives and fixed powers will certainly hold up better than the others. stay in the 40 mm and below range this will also help a good bit in keeping costs down. Best wishes friend.
Welcome to the OT. Listen closely to what Tahqua has to say he is experienced in this area. I'd take his advise in a heart beat.

Tahqua I am using the rifle for precision shots at medium and long ranges distances at paper targets, from 20 to 50 meters, here some examples what I got with my hunter 440 and my Gamo CFX with BSA Sweat. These groups had been gotten with 6x zoom only, my BSA Sweat 17 3x12x40 can not focus anymore targets over 20 meters with 12x of Zoom; an effect of Spring Piston recoil. Rifle- Hunter 440 4,5mm Distance– 22 Meters Pisition- Lying with sand bag Scope- BSA Sweat 17 06 shots First Battery Second Battery Now at 50 meters Rifle- Hunter 440 4,5mm Distance– 50 Meters Pisition- Lying with sand bag Scope- BSA Sweat 17 05 shots < |

No problem, Speach 101 says that if you want to get your point across, state it three times.
If you can get the Tasco in your price range that might be the way to go. I would put more faith in their procuct because they are part of the Bushnell Outdoor Group. They have two reticle selections on that scope. The mil-dot might help you for target shooting, too.

I don't have any knowledge of that scope. I tired searching this guys blog:
http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/ and could find nothing. You could ship him a question and ask. It is a pretty good airgun blog. Their particular sponsor is big on Leapers. I've looked through them and I'm not a fan at all.

Tahqua Sorry to take so much time to reply your recommendations …I am still looking for a scope, and as your recommendation I searched for all models of scopes that are destinated for spring air rifle and found out the Bushnell 6-18x50 Banner Dusk & Dawn Air Gun Scope. What do you think about this model ??
I chose this scope because it is a Bushnell and I imagine the quality of this scope is higher when it is compared with the Leapers and Tasco Scopes.

-I think that is a sound choice. It is adjustable down to 10 yards and will give you the precision you are looking for. It also has 1/4 moa adjustments and from looking at your targets you will like this.
-The only RWS I'm aware of is a 4x32 and it does not fit Honorato's specs.
