What is the thought of mounting my SS on a LAR-9?
I know that a pistol round isn't a long round, but i was thinking maybe for 100yds. in? Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks guys! Also SWFA team, as an owner of TWO SS scopes, I am completly in love with this product. Any new builds will be fitted with a SS! Thanks again guys for a Great product that a guy like me can afford! THat is odd, the LAR-9 is a full size AR. I get plenty of eye relief with it.
Can see perfect. I was just wondering if it was practical... Thanks for your answer though! Joe |

oh sorry --didn't know what it was. went to their website and it pulled up the pistol version of the 9mm etc. etc. Ya if you got a stock to work with it should be fun to find out how unaccurate the 9mm will be at 100 and plus yds. Also at 10x close stuff, like 25 yds, will be hard to follow and an abrupt change of target to say 50 yds will require refocus.

I'm inclined to say that eaven though it will work a 10x scope on a rifle designed to be a CQB weapon is the wrong choice. I'm thinking maximum of 4x and less than that is better. I would give a strong look at the Weaver V3 1-3x variable and the low power IOR scopes and Aimpoint scopes or EOTech scopes. The one exception to the rule might be close range under 100 yds sniper use attempting to use a cartridge that will not overpenetrate in an urban enviroment but from what I have been told by Kent Snyder of ATK (federal & Speer ammo) the 9mm penetrates more than the higher velocity .223. I would check on the data that ATK keeps from their balistic gelatin tests if this is for law enforcement use. If its civilian use do what you want should be a good set up for small game and reactive targets.

Thanks for the feed back.. I already have an EOTech on it for that purpose, i just wanted to put it on there and see what it could do at 100 yds. It wont be a permenant resident. I have a flat top AR15 that i will use it on more permanatley for that purpose.
Thanks again guys! |
