I really don't know anything about the big Fifties, but isn't the one in the photo the one that uses an AR lower receiver as the fire control group? Ferret, perhaps?

I believe its a Barrett Model 99. It is the single shot bolt-action model.

See! I told you I didn't know anything about them!
Thank you for clueing me in, levimoliver.
There is such a thing as a Ferret though, isn't there? As I recall, it wasn't too well-received by .50 cal. enthusiasts.

Some units have the ability to make small purchases of specific items / weapons - optics accessories, etc to meet their mission needs so there is some flexability and I suspect they wanted a 50 cal for distance but wanted a lighter one because they are not user friendly to carry through the mountains, and cost is a factor. |

Looks like a contractor to me, he certainly is not wearing normal military dress.

Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

Judging by his fancy chest rig, plate carrier, windbreaker, gloves and DuraCoated Model 99 I'd guess thats hes with one of the contracting companies.
