Pretty Cool, Dale. Actually that would probably be a pretty good deer rifle in heavy cover, also. You'll get flak from some of the tactical sorts hollering about the dangers of overpenetration, possibly endangering your neighbors in a conflict with a home invader, but I think like you do in this matter. Blow a big hole all the way through the S.O. B. and bury him in the woods! That will solve many more problems than it will create, if you do it right.

You got plans to run a class with that? I'd love to hear feed back from a thousand rounds in a threeday weekend on that gun.

waiting for the dies, and such now, deciding factor was remington 405 gr 45-70 cheap and easily available. the demo piece I shot, in deciding handled 350 hard cast gas check LBT with about a 2" group at 100 yds, had a can on it and the guy used for elk hunting this year with success, used a high dollar bullet (why I don't know). The ballistics are about the same as a 460 S&W or a really hot Casuall load. remarkably low recoil impulse considering the bullet wt. I'd love to run a 1000 rds, but just the brass for the reloads for that much would run about $700. Biggest problem to date is the powder nozzle set up on the Dillon. Not sure if .452 expander will rip up a .458 case mouth, or let the die set the case to .456, and use a rifle nozzle. Very handy package.. balance is like a good 16" medium wt. carbine instead of a front end heavy barrel, although outside barrel diameter is the same. uses reg. ar mags with 10 in 30 rd mag. with no alterations with the mag lips. Overpenetration in this state is a 338 or a 50. (holding back on the religion jokes)

got dies from Lee, adaptation to Dillon was interesting, must use resizer to control over all ram throw, then set powder throw using 45ACP expander, seating die does not have crimp built in and need to slightly hit the mouth with a 45 tamper crimp die. Case looks like a 284 which is .5 at the base while the socom is .54. About the same size as a 20 ga. but shoots the same as a 3" 12 ga. mag slug. 1oz at 1600 ft.

I understand the round is being used in pig hunting and deer hunting. It should be very close to a 10" 460 S&W. Had trouble deciding on this or just using a 20 ga. with slugs. Accuracy past 100yds and magazines swayed the decision.

Was there a reason you chose that one over the .50 Beuwolf? I have been
debating getting one of those two for a couple years. Just cannot
decide.

range of bullet weights, but mostly 405 gr remingtions for @20.00/100, no mag. rework.
chronographed and worked up loads today-32 gr h4198 at 1392 ave, es. 15 fps, puts the load around 1900 ft/lbs, but the momentum power factor is 563 ( a 150 gr 308 at 3000 fps is 450) and a 5.56 is 181 -- serious close range materials interdiction.
recoil just a bit more than my 7.62x39 in ar configuration.

kind of energy dump when shooting car bumpers and bullet doesn't go quite thru. about 50 grs. left of a 405 gr. even someone wearing body armor would be knocked down.
interesting rd. to reload for-- very sensitive to neck tension, which required full length resizing alot of imperial and a 3 ft. cheater bar.

Nice stick I tend to like the large bore guns
I have been wanting a different caliber upper just not sure which one at this point as I have both the ar15 and ar10 lowers which gives me quite a selection of cartridges to pick from. What can I say there are other Encore barrels I want too.
