I have a Hk 22mag rifle and I was having zero problems with a VX-III.  I took the scope off and mounted the factory Hk mount (05 QD).  Well, after re-mounting the Leupold, I noticed the thing can spin within the rings.  I now know the rings are indeed 26mm and to find 1" or 30mm may be quite troublesome.  Any advice?  what might make a good shim?  mark

I've never heard of a 26mm scope or rings.  Since almost all scopes that I'm aware of are either 1" or 30mm, I'd say ya need a new set of rings.

Oh, yea, one more thing.  Since an inch is 25.4mm, I'd bet on the rings being too big.

Redfield used to make 27 mm scopes- and they were good ones. Try Brownells.com for inserts. With the low recoil involved you could try adhesive backed sandpaper cut to fit with the grit pointed outward.

I think it would be easier to locate one inch or 30mm mounts instead.  26mm scopes are few and far between.  I think Israel might still use them on HK's.  Look at some of the surplus sights on the net or do some search engine digging.
