In reading over several posts there appears to be some dislike or bias toward Swarovski scopes.  Maybe it's just my imagination.  Are there problems with the Swarovski Scopes or is it just personal preference for other brands?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts

I have posted some negativety toward the Z6 . I think Swarovski is a great optics company, however, when I got the chance to view through a new Z6, I didn't see anything to call home about. But I would still prefer the Kahles over the Swaro.

IMHO, You must have looked through a knock-off that posed as a Z6. Big%20Smile Just kidding. I've seen someone post negatively just recently about the Z6 having fish eye, yellow glass, etc., that's cool, it's his opinion. There's always someone out there with a negative opinion or bad experience about a brand name product whether it's a rifle scope, a truck, etc.

I have a Z6 2-12x50 that I've used many times successfully in the past year. I'm not one of the experts nor am I as knowledgeable as most on this site but I can tell you from real time experience in the field that this one awesome scope. Watch and see in 2008 as other manufactures improve on the Z6 technology.

I think the flavor here is not so much that swaro is not good, its more that the optical difference between them and kahles is very little and there is a price difference. That makes kahles a better bang for $ spent. Same as 4200 elite while IMHO is not the scope that a conquest is in several ways....its a better bang for $ spent due to its lower cost. You just get 95% of the better models optics and features for maybe 60-70% of the cost.

Thanks for all of the input.  I was just wondering if there were problems with the Swarovski scopes, but it appears that most just feel that the Khales offers similar optics and performance for less money.

I don't have a thing against Swarovski. Swarovski is very aggressive in their marketing strategy here in the USA.

While they do make superb optics its IMO their optics just arent as clear in low light as the top of the line Zeiss Victory models.

If you hunt where 30 minutes past sunset is the norm a Swarovski scope is all you will ever need.

That goes for the Kahles scopes to.

The top of the line 30mm 3-12x56, I feel like you get the same or better performance than with a Swarovski.

But again, Swarovski is more than enough scope for 90% of the low light situations in north America.

My VariX-III's are good enough for that. Too bad we can't hunt later in Michigan to see the brightness advantage to Swarovski optics.
The contrast and resolution are excellent, though my experience is limited to the 3-9.
