I am going to buy either a PH series Swarovski or a C series Khales. Both with be the european models with the 30mm tubes. Can anybody offer any comment as to which one they prefer? Is there any real difference in performance? The scope will be going on a 25-06 Ackley and replacing an Zeiss 3-12-56 that has the steel tube. I am trying to lighten and shorten the scope as well as upgrade.

Thanks so much for your help.

Emrisg -

This type of comparison has been discussed a number of times on this forum.  The consensus is that the Kahles C will outperform anything in the Swarovski lineup except for maybe the Z6.

I concur with ND2000 - I would go with the Kahles. I also looked through the new Z6 at a Gander Mountain in Hattiesburg last week. I know this will stir up a lot of bees, but, I did not find the scope impresive at all. In fact , I noticed quiet a bit of fish-eye in it as well as a slight yellow tinge to the picture.

Well a different opinion from me. My first choice is a new Zeiss Diavari Victory (lightweight and outstanding optically) and then (maybe) a Swarovski and definitely not a Kahles-Helia.

_popupControl(); You Can't just say "definitely not a Kahles-Helia", You have to say why!

Thanks for all the input. I just ordered the 3-12-56 Khales C. I looked through one yesterday and they are very clear.

I have a couple of the new zeiss's but since I had a new son they are out of my price range. They are definately the cream of the crop.

They key for me is that I got a better scope than I had that is shorter and lighter. After I sell my Zeiss it is replacing, I wont be out an arm and a leg also.

I bought a pair of Khales Binos last year and since then I have left my swarovski 8 x 56's at home. I have been impressed by them.

Hey, 300, please elaborate on what you mean by this statement.  Did you have a problem with a Kahles C series scope that influences your opinion?

kahles helia C is one of the best scopes i have ever used.

the only one that i have had experience with, that would best this one, would be the zeiss victory - but they are very close.

i have peered through some swaro scopes/binos and they are very good too.

the kahles C class is a very very good scope.

Yes, I had bad experience with Kahles 3-9x42. It was not waterproof. When looking through it I saw "milk" when weather wasn´t perfect.

300grains,
Did Kahles make it right?

I assure you that isn't at all typical.  They are 100% waterproof just like all other current high end riflescopes, so your sample was defective.  I have 4 Kahles scopes and none of mine leak.  Did you give them a chance to correct the problem?  I assure you they would have done so promptly, and it's covered by a lifetime warranty.

i would see that it gets fixed before saying they make a bad product, even if its costs you out of pocket its still a great scope to get fixed.

Sorry for that I took such a long time to answer, but...    To make a long story short, I didn´t get the help from Kahles. They found nothing wrong with it, and therefore didn´t help me. Bad, bad, bad.

Maybe the scope that leaked milk wasn't a Kahles after all - perhaps it was a Cow-les Bandito

I'm telling ya this.....if I bought any scope of the kahles or zeiss quality and it leaked I would place it underwater in the tub till it leaked plenty good and then send it to them with the water on the inside, no question. Any scope can degas or leak but its a simple thing to use that warranty you get with the scope and get it fixed. I can't view that as a reason to bad mouth a scopes quality when its a fixable thing.
