For the question concerning the Lothar-Walther barrel.
My Father-in-law built a Win 88 in .260 with a Lothar-Walther barrel. It is great. The inside diameter is a little tighter than most makes, and it took some experimenting to find just the right load, but WOW what it likes , it groups well, and the rig as a whole is different than most.

Now that is a rare one. An 88 in .260 is very interesting.

If you like that, you may like my 10-yr-old son's 88 I had done in 250-3000 with a douglas barrel, or, the 88 I had made for myself in 6.5x.284 !

Gotta love those 6.5mm I find it amazing that it hasn't caugt on with Military applications, especially considering the capabilities, ballistically speaking that is. I do wonder if or when the Military will consider this cartridge.

I'm not up to speed on that chambering, How well does it stack up to the 6.5? Why the 6.8 I wonder? Seems the GOVCO might be planning a switch away from the chamberings that the general population can use, that concerns me. For obvious reasons of course.

the 6.5 TCU (set some 700 and 1000 yd records out of 16in T/C) and 7 mm TCU have been around for 25 years. sgw (olympus) had chamberings in the late 80's for ars, and the IMHSA was using both for pistol silhoutte. Who knows maybe this time around they will catch on.

The 6.8 SPC is based on the old .30 Remington which was basically a rimless version of the 30-30.
