These are probably the highest quality rifle scopes available, the ultimate in optics quality.  Made in Germany, they are assembled one at a time.  What sets these scopes apart, is that the lenses are phase-matched. Regardless of who makes a lense, each lense has it's own refraction and polarization qualities due to the manufacturing and especially, the anti-reflective coating process.  The light transmitting characteristic of lense coating is that the light bending is affected by the thickness of only one molecule layer in thickness of the actual anti-reflective coating.  Schmidt and Bender take this property into account, and  match lenses for each scope.  Mass produced scopes cannot match this care in optical performance, scope to scope.  The highest image resolution and light transmition is only possible with phase matched lenses.  Each scope is basically custom hand made one at a time for optimum performance.
