OK ya'll I am back asking for some input once again
First of all I want one that is digital. I have looked on ebay, bass pro,and I cant see paying 300.00 to 500.00 for something that is going to be left in the woods.
Has any one used any of the cheaper ones, and if so did they work like they need too?
Any Info is good Info
Thank you

The problem with the cheaper ones that I see are that you will miss a lot of potential pics of animals because the reaction time is very slow on most of the cheap ones. Models like the CuddeBack will give you more pics of animals because it has fast reaction time. We have some of the cheap trail cameras at our hunting lease and yes, they work, but we get a lot of blank pics and pics of deer butts. I know the good ones are expensive, but I think they are worth it. Yes, they are left in the woods, but they are weatherproof, you can put a guard around them and lock them to a tree to prevent theft, and really, what you're paying for is pics of deer. If the camera doesn't do a very good job of performing its essential function -- taking pics of deer -- because it's too slow to react, to my way of thinking, it's wasted money that could have been spent toward something that works better.

You brought up some very good points RD and thank you for sharing them, Now I am able to bait the deer here in NC... So if they stand still to eat that will give the cheaper ones times to act. I am looking at getting 5 or 6 to see which place I am baiting has the hottest action... and see how many deer are coming around. If you dont mind sharing a few brands I could use the help.
Thanks

We too are able to bait deer, and still, if a deer walks by one of the cameras, it will trigger it to take the pic, but unless the deer stops within the FOV of the camera long enough, it won't get a picture of it. We have some of the Moultree cameras and a couple other cheap brands you can typically buy at WalMart. One of my buddies has the CuddeBack and it's awesome. I was hunting at a wildlife refuge in Arkansas a couple years ago, and ran into one of their fish and game officers. He told me that the Department was using the trail cameras as an aid to conducting game population surveys. They said they were having problems with too many blank pics, so they switched over to the CuddeBack as well and were getting more good quality pics as a result. The CuddeBack and Leaf River cameras also have the infrared mode at night, which means you have no flash to potentially spook animals.

CuddeBack all the way. Would be expensive if you bought 5 or 6 of them but one or two in high traffic areas would definitely be worth it. My dad has had the infrared version for two years and has got some pretty cool and revealing pictures. He was even able to pick up a cardinal flying by. Not even blurred or anything. He put a 2gig card in his and left it in the
woods for three weeks, ended up taking about 1900 pictures. There is also a setting for video.
Here are a few examples of the pictures:

If you are going to go inexpensive get a 35mm ....yeah it costs more for film and developing but you won't miss as many pics. You can get one of them for under $100. Just a thought. Been camming since 1996....back then only a couple brands available. Its addictive......
