I have a browning lever action 308 I was looking at the burris FF2 3-9x40 with the free spotter. Is this too much scope for my rifle. I have never used a scope so I also picked up a lever action 22 that I will put a scope on to practice with.

The 3-9x40 is one of the most versatile and popular scopes made and definitely not too much scope for your .308. The Fullfield II is one of the best values in scopes and the Ballistic Plex - free spotter promo is the best deal we have going.

i ditto ranburr, chris, and cheaptrick, a 3-9 fits well on ANY rifle, form as close at 25 ft at a non moving target, to 1000 yards on a animal sized target.
