Need help with illuminated recticle rifle scope. My husband has a browning 270 a bolt rifle. He wants a 50 mm scope but I don't want to spend a small fortune. What do you think is a good scope for a reasonable price.

Hi, I saw this one the other day on the SWFA web site and it seems to be a very good deal for an illuminated recticle rifle scope.

I'd second the Bushnell 4200 Elite..great scope and reasonable price for a quality illuminated recticle.

Its hard to beat a 4200 and keep the price low, Most of the other top end scopes with a illuminated recticle will be pushiing 1K |

Almost forgot. If he is hunting with 1 inch tube now, you will have to add a set of 30 mm rings with that gift.
Also I would like to say Welcome to the OT !!!!!!! Edited by Pooreyes-2 |

Here is a less expensive choice with glass that is almost as good and will be just fine. It also has a 1 inch tube and will not require any other mounting hardware, if he already has a scope with a 1 inch tube. In addition, it has more of an illuminated reticle, at least of the ballistic plex portion, while the Elite 4200 has an illuminated mildot. The price for this scope at SWFA is 388.95. Not bad.

The Bushnell Elites have one inch tubes, 1 inch rings unless stated otherwise.

I personally would prefer the Bushnell 4200 over the Burris but both are worth a look.

i bought the FIRST incarnation of that scope - the 50mm illum. #4 reticle 4200 - 30mm tube. I found it on a fluke for next to nothing at a discount store, and was floored by it.
it is an amazing scope for all deer hunting situations. i would, without a doubt, buy another.
