I was just wondering what quality the docter scopes are. How do they compare to the other big name european scopes like Zeiss and Swarovski ? I have never seen one or looked through one. If they are not as good as the other big name european scopes, what scopes would they be compatable to?

Hummm never handled one, from what I have heard from friends they are NOT up to the high end Zeiss, Swaro or Kahles. I have been told they are about the same as a Zeiss Conquest. Which is a nice scope (love mine) but not in the same league as the others mentioned above.
It looks a lot like a Conquest as well. I myself would like to have one just because the are different but when it comes down to customer service and representatives I don't know much about Docter in the United States. |

My experience with Docter scopes is very disapointing when it comes to customer service. The importer sends out the scopes to Germany for repair,so if you purchased a scope and you have a problem your going to have to wait a long time for the scope.I bought a new 8-25x50 scope a few months ago for $600.00 from the importer and he gauranteed the scope is under a twenty year warranty.I mounted the scope and the adjustable objective would not turn and the elevation was six inches low.I did recieve a call from the owner/importer who did state the scopes are actually Zeiss quality without the price. The scope is very well made but I believe the Sightron II or an Elite 4200 are a better deal and are brighter. The Docter has a big following in Europe however it never caught on here in the U.S.If the customer service was like Sightron which I have used in the past, and replaced the scope wihout question.I would suggest you buy a Docter, however the company lacks in customer service.I do like the 30mm Docter line which is better than the 1 inch scopes.I would try another brand at this time do to the lack of customer service.I would hope the Docter importer would visit this talk forum to see that there are many people who would give positive remarks on this product, look at Sightron great scope for the money.
