New here, i have a remingtion 700 .30-06 and a marlin 30/30. Im looking to get scopes for both of them. I want to stay around $200. I won't be shooting long distances with either. 06 150yds, 30/30 90yds. How are the simmons aetecs? Im new to this and have a barska on the 06 now. it was pretty cheap and the more I read the more I realize that I need better quality. Thanks for any help that is given. |

I know this is out of your price range, but not much. I would recommend a Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9X40 for $269 from swfa. Unbeatable optics for the price, the best you will find. You will not be disappointed. I know it's $70 more but it's well worth the extra money, believe me. I have one on my Marlin 30/30, while it may be a little much for a 30/30 it certainly is very doable. Perfect for the .30-06. Welcome to the OT! Good luck.

I assumed you meant $200 for each scope. If you want to stay that low, I would recommend getting one 4200 and using the iron sights on the marlin.

i have a nikon monarch UCC 4x40 on my 30/30 - love it. super bright and clear.
but i MAY end up putting a Burris FFII 2-7x35 w/ a #4 reticle on it, because the reticle is great for deer.
as for the 30.06 - the 4200 is a great scope. perfect for the money you spend on it.

what about the 3200? i found a place that has browning scopes that the guy says they are the 3200 without the raingaurd and I can get for 130. Is this a deal or stay away. i want to put a scope on both guns. I wont be shooting long distances. less then 125 yards.

I would go with the 4200 much better scope for the money, If you keep the gun and scope for a long time you will wish you had spent a little more to get a lot better scope.

The Burris Fullfield II is within your $200 limit, and would work very well on your .30-06. Either the 2-7 or the 3-9 would be a good choice. This scope gives excellent value for the money.

Ok..if we are talking around $200 per scope then for the .30/06 I would look at a 3-9 scope. At that price range a Nikon Buckmaster or a Burris Fullfield are both nice scopes...if you can swing the extra 60 bucks I would most definitly agree that the Bushnell 4200 elite is the way to go...the scope is very very impressive and the $60.00 increase is well worth it in the long run.
For the .30/30 I would look at a lower powered scope like a 2-7 your not going to be shooting at far distances with that cartridge so the lower power the better for getting the best use out of the gun which is a fast handling wonderful carbine. Again, I'd look at the above mentioned scopes as well as possibly a 3200 Elite.
As for Browning scopes, I have been told that Yes Bushnell does make the scopes for Browning and from what I understand you can get 4200 Glass (Nice) in the price that you would normally pay for a Bushnell 3200 Elite. So you will get very nice clear glass but none of the other bells and whistles such as Rainguard, or the Firefly recticle.
If it was me I would look real hard at the 3-9 4200 Elite for the .30/06 and perhaps consider the Browning for the .30/30 or a Burris Fullfield.
Good luck....let us know what you decide on.

i got an idea, dont put a scope on the 30-30 cause thats just wrong imo its a brush gun its a lever gun look its open sights! do it that way then you can afford a nicer scope for your 30-06 like say a zeiss conquest @$400

I agree with the Sightron SII 3X9.
I have purchased and looked through quite a few in the last month and find it very hard to beat the SII or Big Sky at this price point. Somewhere in the last 2 weeks I did a review on the Big Sky vs. many of the others.

You can actually find the 3200 off of eBay, brand new with raingaurd (3-9x40)for around that price. If you are trying to stay around 200 for each scope, you can go with the 3200, as I have one and am very impressed. Better clarity than the Burris FF2, especially in lower light. The tactical 10x40 is a great scope for $170-$180. You might want to also look at the Nikon Monarch Team Primos with a Bullet drop compensator. I believe they have a chart for all common rounds. Hope that helps |

I agree it would be hard to beat the deal on Sightron S11 and you could have the same identical scope on both rifles so procedure would be the same http://www.swfa.com/pc-10603-1514-sightron-3-9x42-sii-rifles cope.aspx Cheaptrick is stearing you right for the money .

Thanks for the help. I went with the elite 4200 for the 06 and got the browning for the 30/30. 3-9x40 for both. I don't use the .30 to much. Im going to these from a Barska 2.5-10x50 on the 06 and a 4x32 tasco on the .30. so it should be a world of difference. I just want to thank all that helped and for this site for helping me decide. I got the browning for 130 and the bushnell for 241.
