Thanks for the review. Good to see another devotee of the .260 Remington! I LOVE the caliber!
Best of luck during your week off. Man am I jealous... |

I forgot to add that the Monarch is brighter than the VarX-III I took off this rifle. I am so looking forward to 1/2 hour before sun rise this Thursday. I will definitely have a better view should Mr. Big show up.

Not too intensive of test because I was in a hurry but I finally mounted the 3-9 Monarch I got from SWFA on my Remington M7 .260.
I was rushed and bore sighted it by lining up the cross hairs with the bore on the target @ 100yds. It took me three shots to get down on the bull. A couple of clicks up and here is what I ended up with. I know, only three shots! For six shots I'm not going to complain since I started off 10" to the right and 8" high.
Anyways, I shot it next to my old standby deer rifle, a 25 year old M700 KS 7mag with a 2.2-9x42 Kahles. The Kahles blows the Monarch away to say the least. A friend who had a Remington 760 with a 2.5-10x44 Simmons could tell a very distinct difference from his to the Nikon. When he went from the Monarch to the Kahles he said WOW! Like I said, not scientific, but I'm happy and off for a week of duck, grouse and deer hunting. Good luck everyone. Edited by tahqua |
