I was thinking the same thing.
The only explanation I can think of would be heavy import duty on products from the USA and or Japan. |

No because I pay the same import tax if I import it myself. As I said I can import one personally for $500 with tax all in. |

If you import a scope at $500, add 20% tariff ($100), VAT (value added tax) of 10% ($50), you are up to $650. Now if you say that the shop selling it wants to make a good profit, he marks it up say 100%, so that would give you the $1300 price tag. The joys of taxes and markups. And if you are in the US (don't know about england), you have sales tax (except MT and OR).
Edited to add: Sorry, we were posting at the same time and I didn't see you comment on getting it taxes and all for $500. Edited by helo18 |

well, when you are done testing,,will I be able to buy it?
This scope fills a void. My requirements: 1-40mm or bigger objective 2- variable power- approx 4-16 or better, (5-20 is perfect) 3- side focus 4-illuminated 5- good glass, of course 6- focusable down to 10yds must have all the above, not negoegiable for my purpose to exclude any of them. I find no scope to cover these except lightstream. Every other scope trades ilum for side focus, never both. What is issue there? Edited by razerface |

I don't think the side PA model goes down to 10 yards like the front PA model does.
