Due to the helpful advice and recommendations from people on this site, I have a CZ 452 in 22LR on order. I was hoping I could ask a similar question with respect to a choice in a .243. I would like to keep the rifle cost around $500-$800 if possible, as I will be spending a similar amount on a scope.
Given my price range, what would you recommend in the .243 caliber? I am primarily interested in build quality, accuracy and the "look".
Thanks.

.243 is one of the initial calibers listed for the Icon in all the articles I've read about it. |

I really like the Rem Model 7 and 700 CDL, in the price range you gave. |

No, they are starting out with the short action first, because they are debuting their new cartridge, the .30TC. The first series of Icons will be in .22-250, .243, .308, and .30TC. Reread the article; they probably said the long action calibers were coming after their initial run of short actions. |

If you like your CZ, why not a 550? Mauser action and priced right. What more could you ask for?

The thought has certainly crossed my mind, and I may go that direction, but I wanted some other opinions before I make a decision. ND2000 |

Were you disappointed with the A-bolt's capabilities? I shot my cousins once because he missed a couple of deer and was blaming the rifle....... it wasn't the rifle! It was awesome and I put it on my wish list. I bought a BAR in .243 instead, and I love that gun. My son took his first deer with it last year and hopes to get his 2nd this Nov. |
