Howas are distributed by Legacy Sports Int`l. The Howa`s action is the same as the Weatherby Vanguard. Mechanically, it`s a Vanguard. If I am not mistaken, Weatherby gets their actions from Howa for use in their Vanguards. The stocks that Howa use are different.....I was considering the Howa until I saw my Ruger compact. I don`t see any problems with the Howa at all. Excellent rifle for the money!

You are correct, Squeeze, Howa makes the Weatherby Vanguard action, and it is essentially the same as the Howa 1500 with only slight cosmetic differences, mounted in Weatherby's own stock design.

The Howa 1500 is a good, solid action.  You aren't likely to have any problems with one, and those that I've shot have been comparable with competing rifles in terms of accuracy.  They also come with decent triggers that are adjustable.  As Squeeze mentioned, they are distributed by Legacy Sports.
