Am looking for a scpoe for a Marlin 45-70. Want low power with larger field of view. Would black powder scopes with stand the recoil? Or am I better off with a regular Burris or another brand "rifle" scope?

Shotgun or black powder scopes are not any less robust, they are designated as shot gun or black powder because of the power range and where the parallax is set. Many have a heavier reticle for closer range hunting. The Leupold 1-4x20 Shotgun / Black Powder would be nice on your 45/70.

Have a Marlin 1895 SS and it wears a Elite 4200 1.5x6...fits perfect, ideal power range, great optics, and low to bore..... Other scopes of similar range will work,,
Blackpowder/ shotguns scopes generally only differ by being parallax free at 50 or 75 yards instead of 100 or 150 yd.s ,,,Stick to good scopes in the 2x7 range and you'll be happy. |

A buddy of mine has a1.5-4.5x32mm Bushnell Banner on a .45/70, with plenty of rounds downrange. No problems and a clear scope for the $$$. Other's have also had good luck with this scope on similar rifles. Thinking about trying one on my NEF .45/70 really soon!

The 1-4x20 is great and the nikon 1.5x4.5 ultrawide is even better. Don't forget V3 for $150, it's all you really need!
