I am on a tight budget for a scope and was looking at BSA optics and saw they have some good prices for the scopes but i want to know will they zero or am i really better off getting a leupold or  us optics..... this is for mid range hunting and long range targeting.... so all i want to know is how would you rate BSA on  a 1-10 scale 10 being best or what your opinion is on them... thanks!

Can I rate them a zero?  If not for NC star, I would rate BSA the worst scope made.  They are strictly a low-bidder company and you are better off getting almost anything other than BSA.

Your best bang for the buck is probably Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 with Ballistic Plex reticle.  Generally speaking, Leupold is not the only game in town.  True, it is a good idea to stay away from BSA, Tasco, and other cheap scopes, but there is a number of reputable companies that makes scopes very competitive with (and frequently better than) Leupold.  One area where Leupold is hard to beat is warranty work though, but to be honest I never want to be in a situation where I need to send the scope in.

Anyhow:
Burris scopes are good
Sightron (my personal favourite)
Nikon Buckmaster and Monarch
Bushnell Elite 3200 and 4200
Zeiss Conquest (the most affordable Zeiss)
Pentax
IOR Valdada

These are the ones that come to mind.  I am sure there are others.  Of the cheaper scopes, SImmons seem to be decent, but I've had mixed reviews on these, and my personal experience with them is less than stellar.

BSA is NOTHING but TRASH. i have a contender 6-24x50 i paid $125 for, which i now use for a wrench for turn in rings. save your money, and buy something that will last. i dont think a BSA would stand up to the recoil of a 22LR. for for long range targeting, and hunting, check out soemthing like the elite 4200 4-16, or the burris signature, or black diamond 4-16.

BSA and BEC are garbage.

The cheapest scope I currently have in use is a Simmons 44Mag.  It has performed is function thus far but, has not seen more than 100 rounds.

I would not recommend it, if you must go low dollar, check out the Leupold Riflemans.

I would agree with koshkin....there are much better bang for the buck elsewhere than Leupold.  Not bashing Leupold, but the best thing about them is warranty and marketing....they are not optically superior in their price range by any stretch of the imagination.

Ditto, you can get a optic just as good as leupold for the price, but, you CANNOT get the warranty.
