Greetings:
I have several old German scopes and am hoping to find out more about them. Below is a list that includes what I believe is the maker along with all other markings on the scope.
1. Hensoldt Wetzlar Ziel-Dialyt 4x w/post rectile
2. D.R.G.M. DP Walter Gerard Charlottenburg w/post rectile
3. D.R.G.M. Helios 8a Lichtstarke 30 Schartstellung w/ post rectile
4. R Fuess Helios 4 Seglitz-Berlin Lightstarke 36 w/ crosshair rectile
5. W Sch....letters are faded away w/post rectile (nothing else on scope)
6. Opikotechna 4x 6 degrees w/ post rectile (this scope is actually czech)
Any and all help identifying, dating, and learning more about these is much appreciated. I've Googled each one, but have had very limited success in finding more info. Edited by Lone Star |

Hi
Hensoldt was bought by Zeiss in 1929 and continued as an independent civilian and military manufacturer up till probably 1972 when the Zeiss ,oberkoshen factory closed it's production of Zeiss military and sport optic. So somewhere from that date does Hensoldt indicate military production. Your scope is most likely a civilian scope, but from the information you gave it's not possible to say if its pre or post war.
DRGM is the code for the German patents and DRGM was used up till 1945, so those two are made before 1945 and DRGM does say noghting about the manufacturer.
It would be easyer to help you if you publish photos of them. Are they mounted or do they have mounts? what kinds?
Optotechna is not German, I belive it's polish, but it might be czeck.

Definately not Polish. That is, unless you both have the spelling wrong. Don't know about Czech. |

What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?

Right the optotechna is czech and is the forerunner of Meopta. I was mixing it up with Opticshe Präziosionswerke Warzaw GMBH, that made really nice optics to the third reich during the ocupation and continued to make it after the war.

I'm assuming that after the War the name was changed to something in Polish rather than German? Do you by chance know what that name might have been? |

Excellent info Technika. As you requested, here are a couple pictures with some of the scopes. I can certainly add more if needed.

The polish name after the war was most likely PZO Polskie Zaklady Optyczne. I am not hundred percent convinded that Optiche präzisionsverke really is PZO but I assume it is.
