hey np!, part of me was wondering if i was missing something. my 10x super snipers on my goto rifle, the one i grab when a groundhog pops up in the field. everything else is SFP, and they serve me well.

It might be easier if you realize you don't need to adjust to the "metric system," while Mils work well with it they also work very well with any English units you want to use. ;) Anyway, that's exactly the reason I have one on order right now, and I'm not alone. If one wants a practice/plinker/backup that stays with the same system as their $3000 S&B or $1500 IOR, there just aren't many choices available. The next cheapest FFP Mil reticle/click scope I know of is the 2.5-10 IOR which is over $1000 now. And if you want FFP MOA I don't know of anybody other than USO right now. Why Leupold and others won't offer .1 Mil clicks with their Mil reticles is beyond me. I was about to pull the trigger on the FFP 2.5-10 IOR for the same use but decided to give this a try instead as that IOR has gotten really expensive and lacks some of the features I prefer (don't want lit reticle but like posts on the reticle, want sidefocus, etc). Of course it won't have nearly as good glass or even overall quality, but if I like it well enough I will have saved a ton of money and gotten more features that I want. Time will tell. Hopefully SWFA will pick them up as I think these features have really set them apart from the crowd in the relatively cheap tactical scope arena. SFP is bad enough (I know that's a matter of opinion but that's mine), put in a Mildot reticle with MOA clicks or even worse 1/8 MOA clicks on a tactical scope...it's not hard to see why there's such a following for the Falcons already. |

I've heard good things of Falcom scopes, but I have not played with one yet (at least not that I can recall), although I've seen one on the range. Seemed like a decent scope with a lot of features, but I am a bit turned off by the five year warranty.

sorry, as for naming another scope dealer here in canada swfa refuses to deal with potential buyers out of the us thats why we are importing a comparable scope like the falcon here so we can enjoy our sport ,

I have to agree with RC and Cheaptrick of FFP scopes, I just had to try one but I cooled off after playing with it for a while. The reticle gets larger just when you would like to have it smaller at high power and the vertical travel on adjustments seems more limited than the second focal plane scopes.

For ranging without a laser, the FFP is great. I love my SN3, it's my goto scope on my goto gun when I will need to accurately range with the reticule.
Having said that, 3 things to consider: 1. Accurately ranging with a reticule is a VERY PERISHABLE skill, do it once every few weeks and you will do it poorly. 2. I hunt allot and FFPs disappear at low power and in low light - which is when the hogs come out and the rounds go down range. For target, FFP is great; when I hunt, I hunt SFP - I need to see my reticule. 3. I bought a laser for ranging - it is very accurate, very durable, and very dependable. FFPs are great, SFP can do it but makes it far more complicated. On my tac guns and range guns, I like FFP. On my hunting guns, I hate FFP. For hunting groundhogs, they may be great; I don't hunt groundhogs, I hunt large things that can kill me, and I take shots in low light. With all that said, I will probably buy a Falcon just to play with it and see what I think. And that means a new rifle. Dammit, I need a bigger gun safe! i love my Falcon Menace 4.5-18x56. the MP20 reticle is easy to pick up in low light or busy backgrounds. it allows for ranging & hold overs @ 10x via .5 mil spaced hash marks on the vertical & horizontal stadia. large tactile turrets with audible .1 mil clicks allow for windage & elevation adjustment.
here it is on my ar15:

I have the 4-14x44 FFP Menace with the MP16 reticle. I got it from Mel at SniperCentral and love it. I've got it mounted on my custom Savage M112 VVSS in 30-06.
I've not had the chance to use it a lot yet, but the ability to rangefind at any power is brilliant and where my previous cheaper scope optics weren't up to anything beyond 400m, the Falcon optics are crystal clear.
I can only use Leupold and Weaver as a comparison as I've not used anything else but I struggle to find an optical advantage of the MkIV Leupold out to 1000m. It's solidly built and reassuringly so for a field rifle.
It's not a Schmidt & Bender, but it's much better than the price would indicate.

I love mine. 4-14 x 44 I don't give it a lot of talk here because SWFA does not carry them and it is their house. If you are in a part of the world that SWFA does not ship to, and can get a Falcon, you will not be disappointed. Mine is mounted on a Smith and Wesson IBolt .30-06 and I've had zero issues with the scope or gun. It's not the "IN" combo usually touted here for shooting, but it works well for what I want a rifle and scope to do for me. If any of you guys make it to south Texas and want to give it a hands-on, pm me. |

GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! Just noticed that Sniper Central added a 2010 update to the reviews of the Falcon line. Update 2010 Unfortunately it appears that I have still yet to find a scope with Chinese sourced parts that will hold up and it appears there is a reason Falcon only has a 5 year warranty on these scopes. The 4-14x44 has held up better than their 4.5-18x56mm scopes primarily because the tubes are a better design, but failures are happening with the 4-14's at a pretty high rate as well, with the main issue being reticles that become canted. Falcon has been good about honoring their warranty, and we commend them for that, but the scopes have not been holding up as well as I had hoped. Well kiss a pig. I still like my scope and hope that the ones that are failing have been abused. Could this be why SWFA doesn't sell them? |

Anyone notice the update at the bottom of all those reviews:
Update 2010 Unfortunately it appears that I have still yet to find a scope with Chinese sourced parts that will hold up and it appears there is a reason Falcon only has a 5 year warranty on these scopes. The failures continue which include separated tubes, flakes on the lenses, canted reticles and some other more minor issues like continued softer clicks. Falcon has been good about honoring their warranty, and we commend them for that, but the scopes have not been holding up well.
