I'm going today to purchase my Savage 10FLP in .308 and will have to decide on a scope to top 'er off. I'm a type of person that doesn't enjoy "babying" his items and doesn't enjoy fiddling with things each time I want to use it, that's why I'm leaning towards the 10x Super Sniper. I've read the reviews on how durable and reliable it is after browsing around the swfa site and this forum last night, the Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 isn't a bad lookin' piece of glass and it's $100 less. I've read many people talkin' bout how the glass on the 3200s is pretty nice but also how some say there Super Sniper glass is = to a 2003 VXIII (which would now be a 2004 VXII) but I'm curious as to how durable the Bushnell is and how the knobs and mildot reticle (etched glass or wire?) compares to the Super Sniper?

Any input is appreciated.

very durable, very clear glass (it actually looked clearer than my 2003 VXIII 4.5-14), love the turrets, you can really feel them click, and as for the warranty, ive never had to test it out, and i seriously doubt i ever will, but its lifetime under BPO.

ahem, well...I guess I could think of something else to ask...

how would the higher magnifications compare to the 10x? I'd really like something higher than the 10x but was looking at scopes yesterday at the local gun store and noticed that at the higher magnifications, the scope just didn't seem as clear and so I was thinkin it'd suck to have a scope that's always stuck being "fuzzy"

would this be the case of the 20x or 16x vs the 10x?

also, I'm already aware of the disadvantages of the higher magnifications at close range but I'm not a hunter, I just plan on killing some paper out at some decent range and maybe the occasional ground hog when I venture up to Montana during the summer

A 10X scope will make an object appear 100 yards away at 1000 yards. So If you can see something fairly decent at 100 yards with your naked eye.... I would stick with the 10X. Almost every aspect of optic quality of the SS scope would decline as you go up in power. Thats just with every scope. When guys call here and are confused as to which to get....... a 16 power or a 10X....... we try and persuade them to get the 10X.  You would definitely get everything your looking to do with the 10X.

And that is how false rumors get spread.

Both scopes use the same glass, coatings, adjustments, etc.  Could be someones rings, bases, stock, ammo, shooter, etc..  Too many variable and not enough information.
