but then again so is 180 grain ballistic tip coming out of a 300 win mag on a 40# coyote blows em in half dont recommend that load if you plan on selling the hide though.

you would be surprised that the sectional density on some 6.5mm's is more than some .308's the 6.5 is an amazing caliber, and tahqua is right chris has shot a lot of animals in africa with his 6.5x.284 his ph wasnt happy with  him at first but then chris proceeded to knock of animal after animal with one shot the ph was impressed with the "little" gun by the end of the day saying he thought his was apparently good enough., so i would bring a 6.5 after game if i were coming, of course if i were after cape buffalo it would be different.

 The 6.5 family of cartridges also shot very flat considering their mild velocities and recoil. This is all due to their high BC, especially Bergers 140 gr.VLD., .640 BC. I just ordered some and I can't wait to see how they shoot in my rifle.
