    Posted: March/30/2007 at 12:06

I am currently debating with some guys on 24hour about these 2 scopes. I have had experience with both and feel the 3200 is a better scope. They are saying the VX-1 is better optically and better because it has more Eye-Relief. Am I wrong here?

Everyone there is saying how the 3.3" of ER on the 3200 is not enough for more than a 223.

Don't necessarily agree with that.  We have a Bushnell 3200, 2-7X32 on a Savage  116 weather warrior in 338 and have never been bitten.  Might depend if you're a stock crawler but works ok for me.

Should have added to the above that this rifle has a ported barrel but still pushes like a 30.06

Ya I think it has more to do with improper scope mounting and holding of gun.

id take 3200 over vx1 anyday.vx1 is ok but i think 3200 is a  better scope.i have compared them both and the 3200 to me is definatly a better scope.  the adjustment ring is also alot easier to work compared to vx1,which is very stiff.

i would take the 3200 as well,im not 100% sure what the 3200's warranty is, im not sure if its lifetime  guaranteed like the loopie or not would be my only worry.

I am big loopie fun. I have both 3200 and VX-1. 3200 is much brighter than VX-1. With regards to light transmission, IMO is rather comparable to VX-2.

The 3200 has a 1 year no questions asked replacement warranty in the U.S. followed by a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser.  By the way the Rainguard is not a gimmick it works really well.

Nope.  Lifetime guarantee to the orignal buyer.  In the first year they will replace.  After that fix or replace as determined by Bushnell.

I think that has been changed. Anything with rainguard is covered under the elite bullet proof warranty.

fully transferable lifetime warranty.

I have a 2-7x32 3200 on a .50 cal T/C Encore. Eye relief has never been an issue, and it is normally shot with 130 gr. of powder. Some times 150 gr. of powder still no problems with eye relief. You will have no issues with eye relief on that .223

I'd take Elite 3200 over a Leupold VX-1.  It is certainly better optically.  Mechanically, both Elite 3200 and 4200 scopes seem to be very good as well.  I think Leupy VX-1 is also pretty decent mechanically, so that may be a tie (although in my personal experience, Leupold scopes have not been very good mechanically, but I suspect that is just my luck.  They have a reputation for being well built).

As for eye relief, I am a stock crawler, and I am pretty comfortable with Elite 3200s that I've tried.  Then again, I never tried on any real kickers.

I had 3 Bushnell elite 3200,s. Ive 1 on my 25/06 and one in Firefly on my 223 in 3-9x50 and they work a treat the 3rd 1 i gave to my mate who when he saw the amount of lite it let in he instinktivly ripped the Looey VX1 of his winny 270 and put my 3-9x50 3200 on it.

The 3200,s i would give a huge thumbs up. But am not keen on the 3200 with 40mm OBJ though. Thats why im getting rid of the one on my 300win mag and looking for something a bit clssier for it.
Thanks for everyone,s advice
