I'm looking for a 6x42 scope to mount on my AR-15 under $1200. I won't be ready to buy for a few months, but when I do I want to get a quality product. Basically I want a scope that isn't very complicated, isn't too heavy, will work in low light, and out to at least 400 yards. I've been looking at these scopes:

Kahles 6x42 $1,186.95

Schmidt & Bender 6x42 $1,018.95

IOR 6x42 Tactical 30mm $499.95

Any opinions on these?

If I am spending someone else's money:  S&B scopes are great.

If I am spending my own money:  IOR is the way to go (I have a IOR 6x42, incidentally).

95% of S&B or Kahles performance at less that half of the price.

What mount or ring setup would you recommend (I have a flat top)? Would an armalite mount be sufficent? Larue?

If you are talking about the one-piece Armalite mount:

I think it should work fine.
