Guys,
Anyone use or own one of these? I am looking at the .380 as the price is right and it looks and feels pretty nice. Also, may look at a 9mm carbine in the future. Thanks in advance |

They're cheap (and I don't mean priced low.)
They're ugly.
They're incapable of guilt-edge accuracy.
Having said that, they also have at least a decent reputation for going "BANG" whenever the trigger is pulled and I would much rather be found carrying a Hi-Point then to be unarmed. (Of course, I'm almost never unarmed so; carrying a Hi-Point probably isn't in my future - at least not anytime soon.) Edited by lucznik |

What if the hokey pokey really is what it's all about?

I had one in .380 and it was fine for a plinker/knock around gun. It was accurate enough for what I wanted. I put about 200 round thru it and it never jammed or had any other problems. I just sold it last month to a friend of mine's Dad. The Dad had a hard on for a .380 and payed me $75 more than I paid for it. I figure I can get another one anytime.

Get a Bersa if your'e looking for an inexpensive and reliable .380. Hi-Point is an oxymoron.

A lot of people associate cheap + ugly = crappy firearm. Are they cheap? yes. Are they ugly? yes. I have shot a couple and never experienced a problem, and they both(.380 and 9mm) exihibited pretty good accuracy. I have known a few people that have owned a Hi Point and had the same experience with them. You get a lot more gun than you pay for. I believe a lot of their parts are die cast, so I wouldn't think they would be a good high volume firearm but good for the money.

I have two high point firearms.. I have the compact 9mm and the 45 acp..Both have been excellant and fire and handle very well.. I have contacted the factory a couple of time, and they have been more then satisfactory about answering my questions.. The 9mm I carry in a paddle holster and have had no problems

I was at a Gun Show couple of weeks ago in Council Bluffs, Iowa and a dealer there was selling the .380 for $99.00. I would have bought one right there but I'm not from Iowa. Will have to find an FFL to ship it too for that price. Would be a good gun for my kid. I got him a .32 S & W Long at the Tulsa gun show last April, but the ammo isn't cheap like .380 is. |

My son just bought a 45 and it shoots pretty well and has no feed or jamming issues. A good starter pistol and a lot of bang for the buck. I enjoy shooting it and my only complaint would be a heavy trigger pull.

They are junk. My buddy bought the 9 and twice the whole end of the slide blew apart while shooting it. They have a lifetime guarantee........ see sig line.
