hi all, new to the forum. i just got a savage .204 for varmit hunting and am waiting on the new nikons to hit the selves. i am leaning towards the 4-16x42 monarch, but i am at odds over which reticle to go with (BDC or Nikoplex). i live in the midwest (Illinois), will be hunting yotes, foxes, and ground hogs and at least once in my life will make a trip out west for pdogs. any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you. this is a great forum.

http://www.opticstalk.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=4028&KW=ni kon+bdc Pretty good info on the BDC here for you to review. They were hitting shaving cream cans @ 200 yards with the BDC reticle.

If you need a scope now, give SWFA a shout on Monday (ask for the Optics Goddess) and see if they have something in the older version with a BDC reticle.

Or you can hold out for a "New" Monarch which is due out in the next few months.

I too like the 4-16x model, but I haven't decided on a reticle.
