Group -

I recently purchaced a Remington 700 SSA M40 and am looking for optics and mounts.  I have been considering a SS 10X but do not know what mounts to use.  I tried to order TPS mounts online but they are sold out.  Is the SS 10X the best bang for the buck? What mounts besides Badger will work well.  I appreciate all of your help.

Welcome to The OT!!

Are you going to run a picatinney rail??

If not, why not use Leupold mounts?

I would like to use a rail,  does it make much of difference or is it a waste of money?  As a former Marine I would like to keep the weapon somewhat correct in appearance.  Are the IOR or Burris XTR rings and mounts good?  Lastly are there any optics compairable to th SS10X for the price and do any of you have SSA M40 set up?

I would like to keep that optics and mounts under $550.00.  I have looked for a good used scope (ior/kahles) but have been unable to find one.

read this review of the 'new' stock SS's.  This guy's a good judge, IMO.

that may help your decision. good luck. let us know how she prints.

i would, if in your position, get badger or TPS mounts. and buy the 300 dollar SS.

would be a tough weapon.

You guys have definitally helped me make my mind up, I wanted to wait to see what the Xotic would cost but after reading all of the review I am going to by the SS10X and the TPS mounts.  I will post a pick when I get it put together.
