I recently bought a Ruger Frontier. I was curious if I could use a pistol scope in place of a scout scope? I like the Nikon EER and the Bushnell Elite 3200 variables. I am looking for a variable. I cannot seem to find a variable "scout scope", only variable pistol scopes with extra long eye releifs. Any suggestions???? Thanks.

A lot of variable pistol scopes will have too much eye relief for a scout application. Elite 3200 2-6x32 definitely has too much eye relief. Not sure about the Nikon. If memory serves me right, Burris 2-7x26 pistol scope should work OK.
All in all, though, scout rifles are at their best with low magnification scopes such as dedicated scout scopes from Leupold (2.5x28) and Burris (2.75x20). ILya |
