after coming across this site and doing some reading i am thinking about getting a bushnell 4200. it will be mounted on a 7 mm weatherby. is the 4-16x40 AO a good scope for big game hunting? i want a scope that has more power then a 3x9 as the rifle has on it now. what rings should be used?  this scope is in the price range i am wanting to spend. thanx for any and all info....KS

the 6-24 is too much for big game hunting on the lower end, no need for a 24 power scope on a big game rifle, go with the 4-16, its more than yuo will ever need. as for rings, i would use leupold standards.

A 4-16x40 is perfect if you desire more power than a 3-9.  The 4200 is by far one of the best buys on a quality scope too.  For mounts....Leupold is hard to beat.  Talley is tops in super light weight and quick release if you want to go that route.

Forget about a 6-24 for big game.
