Nice scope.

The 30mm tube gives you more elevation than the standard Monarch.

does the 30 mm warrant the doubled price tag?? or is that like saying kahles and zeiss are that way for the same reason

I don't think so.

Some have claimed that the Gold's glass is superior to the Standard Monarch, but I'm not so sure.

I'd probably get the Standard on sale rght now.

the reason i say that is because i just got a monarch and i was very impressed with it for the money. but i dont have any experience with a 30 mm tube. maybe someday i can afford one.

Nikon's literature reads like the glass is the same in the Monarch and the Gold. I noticed the new Cabela's Shooting catalog doesn't list the Monarch or an equivalent.  Surely they are coming out with something above the Buckmaster?

Mike, looks like the Monarch's replacement will have a 4x erector.

I can't wait to see what they got coming!!
