SWFA's clearance prices on certain Nikon's right now are OUTSTANDING.

Some of us here on The OT have gotten these scopes.

(Hell, even The Dark Lord  himself, koshkin bought one.)

I went with the 6.5-20x44mm Monarch w/ a lit Mil Dot reticle, because I wanted to shoot a little further out this year and could use the extra magnification. That and my eye's aren't what they used to be.

Great scope.

It's actually worth MORE than the normal list price, but with the sale on, it's flat stealing.

I have always recommended Nikon's because they have always exceeded my expectations optically, performed well and were easy on my wallet to boot.

Friends, this is true story:

The Warden, my wife, is a money miser to the 10th power!!!

She makes Ebenezer Scrooge look like a philanthropist.

I told her I wanted the 6.5-20 Monarch for my birthday which was last month.

"Another scope??" she hissed.

"Yeah, but this ones on sale" I rebutted.

"Right.... How much?" she inquired.

Showed her the list price versus the SWFA sale price and she said....

"Wow, looks like a great deal!!"

"YACHTZEE!!" I exclaimed!!

This forum gets asked every day "What scope do I need for my rifle?"

Right now, the "best buy" in optics is the Nikon Monarch or Buckmaster that are on sale here @ SWFA.

This "shout out" goes to the guys who are contemplating buying a hunting, plinking, target, varmint, bench rest, or all around optic.

You need a new 3-9 scope for your deer rig?? And who doesn't?

Get the Monarch or BM.

I don't make a dime if you buy or one, none or fifty.

This is a real deal buy on some really solid scopes.

Call up The Optics Goddess @ SWFA and get ya one or a couple.....

Tell her cheaptrick sent ya!

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

+1,Monarch clearance scopes are the best deal currently going on. They are a steal and nothing can touch them at the current clearance prices.

All right, I'm convinced.  Question:  will the 6.5-20 x44mm fit on a Rem Mod 700 PSS with Leupold mounts & medium rings?

Maybee not because of the heavy barrel and the fact that they are leupold mounts.

Long story, couldn't find the PSS LTR so got the PSS....mounted scope, sighted in, 2 weeks later found a PSS LTR, thus rings, mounts already on gun.  So, buy different mounts or go to high rings?

Yes, you could use medium rings.

Actually, low's "might" work.

http://www.opticstalk.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=227&PN=1

Check Leupold's chart to be sure.

Here's a link to my Rem. VSLH with medium rings and the 6.5-20.

Just to give you an idea.

Same stick you got, with a differant stock.

Leupold STD med ringss are much lower than tactical rings of the same name:example:X-Low,Low.Med.High,X-High.

Your rifle has a unfluted med/heavy taper finishing at .850, with those rings itis a tough call. I would order your scope first and then go from there with the factory charts and your desired mounting position of your scope. Burris signature rings work very well also and could be obtained with a offset insert kit to maximize the position of your scope on your rifle without lapping and would use your same bases.

Excellent post SVD.

Your quite right, tactical rings are differant from Leupold STD rings.

I couldn't get a fix on the "Leupold Mount Wizard" either.

No Monarch's in there for some weird reason..........

Thanks Cheap.

I would like to stress the fact that there is no better deal than a Monarch at this time.
