Hello Chris

How about the Kahles KX or the new ZF, anything else from the euro brands that you know of? Is Sightron something that SWFA is looking at?

There is a ton of stuff to be added.  I just started the new forum 10 minutes ago and put something up quick until I have time to make a more in depth post.  I will continue to update the first post with more and more information as it becomes available.

Lots of new and neat products to talk about.

Before this turns into a monster, lets just wait to discuss new products as they appear on the original post.  There is just too many and some have not been authorized for public consumption yet.

If Leupold drops the price of 1.5-6x24 VX-7by 50%, I will buy one.

Any information on what Bushnell Elite E2 binoculars will be like?

Here is something I have learned a little about. Zeiss's LotuTec coating. Still learning though.

ZEISS LotuTec coating

Lotus flower effect
A principle from nature: The lotus flower effect. That is the water repelling characteristic of surfaces, to simply let water drops pearl off and to repel dirt. LotuTec acts as protective coating and cleaning and care is made especially easy.
This technology has been used by Carl Zeiss for millions of spectacle lenses for a long time.

The following products with LotuTec are available
  • Binoculars Victory 56 FL (now)
  • Full line of Victory Binoculars (one model at a time, beginning Jan 2007)
  • Riflescopes Victory (one model at a time, beginning Jan 2007)

Left / links: With / mit LotuTec Right / rechts: Without / ohne LotuTec

The advantages
  • Dirt, grease and water repelling pearl-off effect.
  • Simplified, streak-free and gentle cleaning.
  • Reduced misting tendency.
  • Contrast-rich and brilliant image.
Without LotuTec
A contact angle of max. 95° leads to flat water drops.

Without LotuTec
As with most leaves, moisture and dirt particles
collect on the surface and adhere.
With LotuTec
Contact angles more than 110° lead to ball-like water drops.

With LotuTec
Just like in a lotus flower, the drops simply pearl off. Dirt and finger

Here is something new as well from Zeiss.

The Victory Diarange 3-12x56 T* with integrated laser rangefinder from Carl Zeiss is a new riflescope that delivers excellent optical performance and mechanical sturdiness, AND the precise range to the target at the push of a button. The ease of use makes it possible to react quickly - with the weapon in a firing position within a fraction of a second - whenever the unexpected hunting opprtunity occurs.

When you hunt off the beaten path, you often find yourself making long range shots at unknown distances. Even if you know your ammunition and rifle well, knowing the range to the target is vital for a clean shot and successful hunting.
